The All New Audi RS5 Launched
Audi has been noted as the “king of wagons” for a while now, though it has not come with a bit more competition with Mercedes Benz and the recent inclusion of BMW throwing their hats into the boxing ring respectively. This might’ve shaken the Audi executives a bit as the upcoming RS5 model is a testament that they will not be dethroned anytime soon.

The new Audi RS5 has ventured into the dark-side, with the 2.9L V6 engine now being released as a plug-in hybrid – can’t fight the emissions for long unfortunately. This has, however, produced a powerhouse of a vehicle for Audi. The 2.9L V6 BiTurbo engine has been paired with an electric motor built into the 8-speed gearbox that produces a combined power output of 470kW(with 22kW being generated by the electric motor) – this sees the car with a 44kW power increase from the outgoing model.
The design of the car sees it both “beefy” with more definitive body lines and a homage design on the rear with the rear-defuser to what many would assume is that of their Porsche family with the exhaust intakes moving ever so closer to the middle of the bumper(think 992 Carrera S). The design does leave one to wonder who was pissed off when this design was finalized as they needed to make sure that the standing of Audi in the automotive space is highly regarded.

There has been a great deal of technology that has been incorporated into the upcoming Audi RS5, like the Quattro AWD with Dynamic Torque Control that now has an electromechanical torque-vectoring rear transaxle – basically meaning that power can be sent either on all four wheels or straight to the rear should one wish to slide this car better, as an example.
The Audi RS5 will be available in both sedan and Avant, meaning that the Coupe that has been synonymous with the RS5 model has been done away with unfortunately. But looking at the designs of both, we hope that we get the spoils of either car.

More details will be available once the vehicle has been confirmed for a South Africa release, including price and a more technical review.
