Chery’s iCAR Confirmed For South Africa Market

There is some disappointing news for Apple fans as they did not expect this from the car world. The Chery iCAR, as showcased at the 21st Auto Shanghai in 2025, has been described as a the Jimny competitor – actually, described more as the all-electric Jimny that Suzuki should be making but isn’t.

Chery South Africa has confirmed that the iCAR will be heading to South African shores between the end of 2025/early 2026.
This would unfortunately come with a hint of slight bad news as the Jaecoo J6, which was scheduled for SA around May/June, has been put on hold now.
Will the iCAR make a significant impact in our market? Only time will tell.
The iCar 03 offers a single-motor RWD variant with 100kW and 180Nm, and a dual-motor AWD version delivering 292kW and 455Nm, capable of 0–100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.
