Just Launched: The All-New Jeep® Grand Cherokee L

The all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee L has officially been revealed in South Africa, and words cannot contain how excited we are with this new release. The Grand Cherokee has seen a complete overhaul from its predecessor and has received upgrades in every way possible.

The Grand Cherokee L has received an extra row and is now available in three-rows for the first time ever, extending the seating to 7 seats in the Limited and Overland variations and 6-seats in the Summit Reserve. The extension to the interior’s addition means that the vehicle has also been packed with plenty of technology as Jeep aimed to make the Grand Cherokee L receive the most exquisite and technically advanced passenger cabins in industry. The vehicles have also seen an introduction of an all-new seating architecture which features a length-adjustable cushion for the front row in the Summit Reserve.

The inside sees Jeep featuring the latest and most advanced Uconnect ® system in The Grand Cherokee L, with a 10.1-inch and an upgraded intuitive user experience, which includes better operating speeds that are five times faster when compared to its predecessor system and flexibility that allows the system to continuously evolve and offer new content though its Android operating system and over-the-air(OTA) updates.

The Uconnect ® suite of system highlights include:

  • 4-inch or 10.1-inch digital touchscreen
  • Five user profiles plus a valet mode – customizable music preferences, apps, seat position, mirror angles and climate comfort levels
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Fully customizable home screen for quick access to frequently used features and one-touch operation
  • Simultaneous connectivity for two Bluetooth-enabled phones
  • All-New Uconnect mobile app

The front-row seats have a wireless charging pad for enhanced functionality and dual USB Type-C ports available, ensuring devices to charge up to four times faster. The rear sees an inclusion of fully digital rearview mirror that processes unobstructed images in real time from the rear-facing camera.

The Grand Cherokee L is also noted as the first production Jeep vehicle to offer a windshield full-colour Head-up Display (HUD) that is configurable (reportedly up to 10 inches) and features three predefined configurations and a custom mode with a choice of four reconfigurable layouts.

The Grand Cherokee L is fitted with a standard 10.25-inch frameless digital gauge and cluster that has two dozen different menus and features five reconfigurable tiles for at-a-glance data or quick and easy access to the most used information.

The Grand Cherokee has a long history in reliability and the Grand Cherokee L has been built to continue comfortably through that road. The vehicle offers 4×4 capability and a range of best-in-class safety and advanced technology features, which includes:

  • An all-new re-engineered architecture to deliver world-class driving dynamics and durability to the vehicle’s capability.
  • An award-winning powertrain that offers fuel-efficiency and refined engines with proven performance, best suited for any driving situation.

The Grand Cherokee comes standard with a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine that puts out 210kW and 344 Nm of torque. The Pentastar engine forms part of Chrysler’s series of aluminum dual overhead cam 24-valve V6 engine family and has been refined since its introduction back in 2011. The engine helps in running the vehicle smoothly through its 60-degree angle between the V-6 cylinders couple with accessories bolted directly to the engine block.

The new Grand Cherokee L comes standard with a 5 Years/120 000KM warranty and roadside assistance, plus a 5 Yeas/100 000KM maintenance plan. The pricing breakdown is listed below:

  • Jeep Grand Cherokee L Limited: R 1 299 900
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland: R 1 479 900
