Stemming from the great success that the Polo has had on the local market, Volkswagen has confirmed that the Polo Sedan is now available for order to customers through Volkswagen dealers. The Polo Sedan will be available in 3 derivatives: the Polo Sedan, Polo Sedan Life and Polo Sedan Life Triptronic.
The sedan has had significant success on its own as it was quickly adopted as the convenient A0 sedan segment passenger carrier for both personal and business use, with over 44 000 units being sold on our local marked since its launch in 2011.
The styling of the car carries on from its hatchback counterpart with a distinctive and striking exterior design which makes it a treat to drive. The Polo sedan comes standard with some design options, like LED headlights and taillights, a signature chrome grille, 16-inch alloy wheels that are only available on the Life derivatives and a chrome package that goes around the window chrome strips & door handles to complete the striking look.
The entry level Polo Sedan will see App Connect, 7-inch touchscreen radio, cruise control and a multi-function steering wheel as a standard while the Polo Life Sedan derivatives will see and addition of keyless entry start, rear view camera, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless mobile charging, wireless App-Connect, power adjustable and folding exterior mirrors, climatronic air conditioning, ambient lighting, leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel and gear lever, front fog lamps and cornering lights, a chrome package and 16-inch Scimitar alloy wheels to name a few of the standard features.
The Polo Sedan will come with a four-cylinder petrol engine in either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed Triptronic transmission that puts out 81kW and 152Nm of torque at 3 850 – 4 100 rpm, ensuring that it goes from 0-100km/h in 11.2 seconds. The vehicle has been limited to 190km/h on the top speed and have an acclaimed 6.2 liters/100km fuel consumption.
The Polo Sedan starting price is at R318 300 for the 1.6 81kW manual, R345 600 for the 1.6 81kW Life and R365 500 for the 1.6 81kW Life Tiptronic. The cars come standard with a 3 year/120 000km warranty, a 3 year/45 000km EasyDrive Service Plan; customers will have the option to extends the EasyDrive Maintenance and EasyDrive Service plans to up to 10 years/300 000km and a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty.
